Background:

It is now possible to install (side-load) either @gcw07's Roku plugin or @im85288's Roku plugin, onto the Now TV box.

The Now TV box is a re-branded Roku LT, but is only available in the United Kingdom and is marketed by SKY TV, as an "easy way to get live and on-demand entertainment straight to your TV".

The Now TV box costs £9.99 including FREE P&P, which is an excellent deal, as there are already a number of FREE channels included, such as Sky News, BBC News, BBC iPlayer etc. (full list here).

The cheapest Roku LT I can find today is around £30.

The Now TV service also allows you to have a subscription for either, or both, of the Sky Movies or Sky Sports packages at a cost of £8.99 per month (or a 24-hour pass for £9.99 !!).

Now TV setup:

When you receive the Now TV box, set it up as per the instructions - you will need to create an account on the Now TV website as this is how the box connects to the Now TV service.

Once that is completed (which may include a firmware update), you can start to install either of the MB3 Roku plugins.

MB3 Roku Plugin Installation:

To install the MediaBrowser3 Roku plugin onto your Now TV box there are a few steps.

Step1: Download the latest ZIP version from the relevant thread.

Step2: On the Now TV box, you will need to enable the Developer Mode.

To do this, press the following button combination on the remote:

Home 3x, Up 2x, Right, Left, Right, Left, Right

You will be presented with the Developer Settings page:

Select Enable Developer mode and select I Agree twice.

Make a note of the IP address for later use.

When you have enabled the Developer Mode the Now TV box will reboot.

Further information relating to Developer Mode is available on the Roku Developer WiKi.

Step3: On your PC, open a browser and enter in the address field the IP displayed in the Developer Mode screen.

You will be presented with a screen similar to this:

Click on Choose File and navigate to where the downloaded ZIP file is and select.

Click Install and the ZIP file will be loaded onto the Now TV box.

If successful, you will see an "Install Success" message in the browser:

Now, when you return to your Now TV screen, you will see the MediaBrowser3 channel (by default on the far right).

To set up the channel, please refer to the relevant thread for further information.

vgjfelix has created a YouTube video that shows how to install Plex onto the Now TV. The process is exactly the same, apart from using the relevant MediaBrowser3 Roku plugin ZIP file.

UPDATES:

When a new new update is released, you will need to download the latest ZIP file and do the same as in **Step1** above.

Repeat Step3 above, but this time, click Replace and the new ZIP file will be loaded onto the Now TV box.

If successful, you will see an "Install Success" message in the browser:

IMPORTANT:

This should all work OK, providing Sky don't remove the Developer Mode from the Now TV box, or disable any side-loaded apps.

Please refrain from posting about MediaBrowser3 on the Now TV forums, as this may lead to unknown consequences.

Other apps have been side-loaded onto the Now TV box and all mention of it on the Now TV forums have been removed.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

TIA.

Capture Screen-Shots from Now TV (or any other Roku if plugin side-loaded):

To capture a screen-shot from a side-loaded app on the Now TV, navigate to the screen you want to capture.

Then, in a browser on your PC, enter the IP address of your Now TV box, such as 192.168.1.40.

Select “Utilities” and then click “screenshot”.

When the image displays, just right-click on it and Save Image.

Repeat as necessary.
